Press-Molded Plates, September 2023

In this adult class, students will learn how to make a one-part mold of a single plate. They will do this by first creating a plate prototype that is either found, handbuilt, or wheel thrown, and then make a one-part mold of this plate with plaster. They will then use slabs of clay to create the plate within the mold. Various surface treatments and glazing techniques will be discussed. Low-fire terracotta and glaze is provided by the ceramics studio, but students are available to use their own clay if discussed with the instructor.
