PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Monotype, a very versatile medium, is the printmaking technique most closely allied with painting. Printing inks or paints are painted, rolled, or scraped onto a uniform surface, which is transferred to paper by the application of pressure. Because the monotype matrix is unaltered and every ink/paint application is unique, each print is one-of-a-kind, hence the name of the process.
Our exploration will be focused on the tradition and future of monotype processes, which include additive, subtractive, watercolor, and transfer techniques. Your only responsibilities will be to observe, speculate wildly, and challenge yourself as you create fantastic things no one has ever seen before while supporting one another on your voyage.
